Community

Limerick City Adult Education Service (LCAES) works closely with community groups and organisations across Limerick to provide high quality, relevant learning programmes for adults in local settings. We do this through both formal and informal networks.

We work with our community partners to

  • establish links with people in the wider community
  • share insights into the needs and aspirations of current and potential learners
  • devise centre and area plans for provision of a full suite of learning opportunities and evaluate this provision annually
  • provide quality learning facilities in a multiplicity of local settings
  • support and manage adult education staff, who work in the community

We design and tailor learning opportunities and supports for local people, and make them as attractive and relevant as possible.

Detailed information on courses in community locations can be found in Life, Leisure and Community, Up-skilling and Re-skilling and Basic Education Skills.

  1. 1) the sentence on informal and formal networks doesn' t really add much here.

  2. 2nd para:

Share insights into the strenghts, needs and aspirations of current and potential learners
Design and agree plans to provide a full suite of learning opportunities, with high quality staff and in a multiplicity of local venues
Support and manage adult education staff, who work in the community

  3. share insights into the interests and needs of current and potential learners

work with local partners to provide a full suite of learning options (instead of bullet 3)

support the provision of quality learning facilities in as many local settings as possible (instead of bullet 4)

evaluate the quality and relevance of learning provision on an annual basis (a new bullet point)

design and tailor learning learning opportunities and supports for local people (another bullet point rather than a new sentence)

  4. Think that our role in meeting the learning needs of "communities" as opposed to needs of "individuals" living in communities is missing.

Final bullet: would change "work in the community" to "work in local communities"
